Site work and new construction of a library in Sunnyvale, California. Design plans call for the construction of a 118,000-square-foot library.
As of June 23, 2025, the City of Sunnyvale’s Civic Center Phase 2 – Main Library project remains in the conceptual design phase. Group4 Architecture was selected in 2023 to lead design efforts, and a preferred concept was approved by City Council in May 2024. A bond measure (Measure E) to fund construction appeared on the November 2024 ballot but did not pass. The City is now evaluating next steps, including funding alternatives. Full architectural design and construction are on hold pending future direction. Project is included in the City of Sunnyvale's FY 2022/2023 CIP.As of November 19, 2025, information regarding a general contractor is not available. A firm timeline has not been determined. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
