Site work and paving for a road / highway in Milton, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

As part of the restoration and opening of Kelso Quarry (Area 8) for public use; Conservation Halton is interested in contracting qualified proponents that specialize in trail and/or road construction to perform trail refurbishing and improvement work within Kelso Quarry Conservation Area. Kelso Quarry, or Area 8 is a former quarry site that has since ceased operations and has seen extensive restoration and transformation into a managed park space by Conservation Halton. As part of the overall restoration, Conservation Halton is creating trail experiences within the park to provide recreation opportunities to the public and visitors of the park. The successful proponent will be responsible for the entirety of the work to be completed on an already designed and existing trail within the park. The trail requiring improvement is an existing tread that was a former service road used during previous quarry operations in the space. The trail in question is 2,139m (2.139km) in length with a grade of 0% and provides a short loop experience surrounding the lake area of the park. The qualified proponent will be responsible for performing the necessary trail resurfacing and improvement work to transform the current experience to a compacted multi-use gravel trail. The desired finished experience of the trail is such that it will serve as a multi-use trail (hike, cycle, strollers etc.) for a variety of user abilities and styles. There is to be no change, or alteration in the location of the trail tread. This project will also include the installation of and fill for three (3) separate rest areas along the trail experience. All three rest areas are to be blended in to and provide a smooth transition to the existing trail tread and experience. The same material fill is to be used for the rest areas as well as the trail tread to create a singular and seamless style throughout. Supporting infrastructure (benches, tables, signage etc.) will be placed and/or installed by Conservation Halton staff. The Work shall be started within 1-2 weeks of the contract award or as per an agreed schedule as submitted by the Contractor and approved by the Owner in order to obtain substantial completion by November 18, 2021, unless otherwise agreed upon prior to the contract being awarded. Documents can be obtained at: https://conservationhalton.bidsandtenders.ca Question Deadline: Thu Sep 30, 2021 2:00:00 PM (EDT) *Awarded contract value not released.
