This prequalification is for a general contractor and design team who after selection will assume the role of Design Builder. The University intends to use the Progressive Design-Build delivery method for this Project. The Progressive Design-Build contract will require the successful Proposer to enter into a contract and to provide both design and construction services. The University's primary objectives in utilizing the Progressive Design-Build approach is to bring the best available integrated design expertise and construction experiences to this Project. The University has determined that proposers on this project must be prequalified. Prequalified proposers will be required to hold the following licenses: 1. California contractor's license: B - General Building Contractor AND 2. California Architects License AND 3. California Structural Engineering. The original North South Wing was built in the 1920's. In the 1950's an addition of 5 floors of steel and concrete was added. This structure has now become obsolete and antiquated. Once vacated, the North/South Wing will be readied for demolition. Located between Parking Structure 1 and connected to the 1964 East Wing, the North South Wing is currently being seismically, and utility service decoupled. Once demolished, the West Face of the adjoining East Wing will require a new exterior facade. This will also serve as the main employee and staff entrance into the East Wing. The basement area will also need to be reinforced and backfilled to grade. Landscaping of the affected area has been removed from the Project and will be contracted separately. This project will meet OSPHD 1 requirements.
