Buffalo Public Schools has invited you to submit on their RFP El Logro Latino High School Completion Project Lafayette International Community High School opportunity The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time. Offeror will facilitate the hiring and provide compensation for one full-time social worker for the 2021-2022 school year. This social worker must meet the following qualifications: a. Must be a social worker, as licensed in NYS (Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or have experience providing services to parents and families connected to academics b. Support staff of offeror must be able to communicate, through both writing and speaking, with students and families in Spanish with academic proficiency. c. Offeror support staff must be able to demonstrate an understanding of Latino culture and educational systems relevant to the students of Buffalo Public Schools. d. Support staff must have experience in providing academic support to historically marginalized families e. Must have experience working in social worker capacity with Latino youth or Latino families f. Must have basic experience with Microsoft Excel g. Must have experience in delivering trainings and facilitating meetings h. Once hired, the social worker will perform the following duties: i. Monthly support meetings to be attended by social worker (accompanied by school counselor, designated teacher, school social worker, school administrator j. Thirty-minute monthly meetings with 25 individual families for a total of 150 hours (25 families X 12 months X 30 minutes) k. Accompaniment of 25 students and 25 to four local colleges for four hour trips l. Preparation for and participation in parent/family orientation and end-of-year celebration m. One-hour monthly planning and check-in meetings with Buffalo Public Schools staff n. Hold additional parent meetings as needed o. Empower parents to advocate for their children's academic success by utilizing District communications platforms and other relevant resources. p. Collaborate regularly with Lafayette International Community High School counselor to review student course performance and attendance for each student within cohort q. Collaborate regularly with teachers of students in cohort to discuss student needs r. Communicate weekly with designated Buffalo Public School district administration, designated school administrator, and offeror designee s. Participate in weekly meetings to update offeror designee and designated school administrator. The District seeks to establish a partnership with a local organization on the cultivation of strong family partnerships at Lafayette International School, #207 for Spanish-speaking families.
