As of January 2 2025 this porject is moving forward since they won a grant, Ripon | $1,985,000 Funding will assist with public library renovations, which will benefit over 7,600 individuals, including residents living below the poverty line, elderly residents, people with disabilities, minority groups, and those without access to high-speed internet. Funding will go towards expanding the existing library through the addition of telemedicine rooms, computer labs, and a large multi-purpose space. With project funding, the library will have dynamic available spaces for patrons to use for work, including online interviews and meetings, education, including online classes and exams, and healthcare monitoring, including telehealth appointments. _________ The proposed renovations aim to update the children's area, provide a space for teens to hang out and make the bathrooms compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It will adds study rooms, a play area for children and removes a wall facing Silver Creek, replacing it with a window that will provide an enhanced view of the creek. The renovation will keep the library's collections intact, while getting rid of the large staff desk, puppet theater, fixed computer counter, kids archway and the linear shelving dividing line. It will create "destination areas" within the library such as an interactive "play-brary" space for children, a teen gathering area, seating at windows, quiet spaces, window seating and enclosed study rooms, according to the presentation. The project includes two smaller study rooms and one larger study room. As of May 9, 2023, this project is in the process of fundraising. An architect has been selected. Information regarding how and when a general contractor will be selected, and when construction will begin, has not been confirmed.
