Saving Project...

Demolition, site work, new construction and renovation of a water / sewer project in Beaufort, North Carolina. Design plans call for the demolition of a water / sewer project; for the construction of a water / sewer project; for the renovation of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.

As of June 13, 2023, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the design phase. A firm timeline for construction has not been determined. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Town of Beaufort ("Town") is requesting Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from Qualified Professional Engineering Firms interested in preparing a design to replace a sewer pump station. Any firm wishing to be considered must be properly registered with the Office of the Secretary of State and with the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. Deadline for written questions October 18, 2021 Addendum #1 issued if needed October 22, 2021 The Town of Beaufort operates a sewer collection system and a wastewater treatment facility. The collection system infrastructure includes twenty-five sewer pump stations of varying capacities and ages. Sewer pump station #7 is among one of the oldest stations as it was constructed about 1969. It is a wet pit-dry pit configured station with a back-up power generator. The station is outfitted with dual pumps with the reported single pump design discharge rate being 150 gallons per minute (gpm). The pump station is located at 601 Mulberry Street on property owned by Carteret County. The school bus garage for the Carteret County Public Schools is located at the property. Town staff has been unable to confirm that the pump station site is located within an easement on the property. The station serves a nearly built out basin and is in turn, operating at near capacity. Completion of a recently started residential subdivision will likely take the station to capacity. This is concerning to Town staff given that the station already goes into the high-level alarm state during certain rainfall events. Replacement of the station is felt to be necessary when these capacity concerns are coupled with the station's age. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
