Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Saluda, South Carolina. Working plans call for the construction of a 5,000-square-foot, one-story above grade fire / police facility; and for site work for a fire / police facility.
**As of January 27, 2022, the bids received are over the budget.** Saluda County ("Owner") is requesting bids from qualified General Contractors for the design and construction of a volunteer fire station located at 1407 Newberry Hwy, in Saluda, SC (Parcel ID # 083-00-00-117). The design/build project will consist of a single story, three bay wood framed building. The volunteer fire station at 1407 Newberry Hwy shall be a poll building, 90'x50' (4500 SF) The building will need to have three 12'x14' overhead doors to the four bays for the firetruck one personnel entrance door with awning located at the front of the building, one personnel entrance on the left side of the building with awning and one personnel entrance on the back side of the building with awning. There will also need to be one dividing wall on the right side of the building that divides the bay from the office/ station space. This room needs to be 50'x30' (1500 SF) and must include two interior doors to access the apparatus bay area, and be divided into a restroom with a shower, sink and toilet. A breakroom, a large storage room with access from the breakroom, and an office. See the attached sketch for a general concept. The project shall address the particular laws governing the development of volunteer fire stations in South Carolina, including but not limited to, building codes, Saluda County zoning ordinances and codes relative to DHEC and SCDOT standards. The successful design/build contractor will be responsible for providing MEP drawings and specifications, as-built drawings, civil site drawings; apply for and obtain all required building permits with assistance in obtaining from Saluda County (Building Permit Fees will be waived), especially and including DOT encroachment permit, tap fees, etc. as may be required. The successful design/build team will provide insurance and bonds as required, and will construct the proposed facility and the associated site improvements. Include a Bid Bond or Security in the amount of 5% of the bid price. Performance and Payments bonds in the amount of 100% of the work shall be filed with the Owner prior to the commencement of the Work. SCOPE OF WORK The new facility shall be under 5,000 sq feet: 1) 4 bays for fire trucks 2) Bathroom with shower 3) Office 4) Common area The volunteer fire station at 1407 Newberry Hwy shall be a building under 5,000 square feet The building will need to have four 12'x12' overhead doors to the four bays for the firetrucks. Building shall include a bathroom with shower, an office, and a common area.
