The UTD Callier Center Dallas Chiller Replacement project replaces the current chilled water plant located in Building H112a mechanical room consisting of two water cooled refrigeration machines, one R-11 refrigerant 270-ton centrifugal machine and one 134A refrigerant 175-ton screw machine with heat rejection to a centrifugal forced draft cooling tower installed in the outdoor mechanical yard adjacent to the mechanical plant equipment room. The chilled water plant is approximately 25 years old, and all equipment has reached its useful operational life. To allow for uninterrupted chilled water service to the facility, an independent air-cooled chiller plant consisting of two 220-ton screw compressor machines will be constructed on the south side of the building to include a packaged hydronic pump enclosure. New distribution piping will be routed outside the building before reentering the existing chiller plant mechanical room where final connections to the existing distribution system can be made. Once the new plant is made operational the existing plant will be decommissioned. The project will request an optional alternate price to remove the decommissioned equipment.
