Demolition, site work and addition to a fitness / recreation center in Miami, Florida. Completed plans call for the addition of a 4,200-square-foot, one-story above grade fitness / recreation center; for the demolition of a fitness / recreation center; and for site work for a fitness / recreation center.
The selection process for this Design-Build Solicitation is a two- phase process under one Submittal, as follows: ; Phase 1 is the evaluation of a design-build team's qualifications based on the teams' completed submittals and the evaluation of competitive Technical Proposals. ; Phase 2 is the opening of the Price Proposal from the submitting Firms that offer a responsive and responsible proposal in Phase 1. November 19, 2021 Deadline for Receipt of Questions The Design-Builder shall be aware that the Submittal will require a Bid security in the form of a Bid Bond or certified check made payable to the "CITY OF WEST MIAMI ", in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid. Bidders must use Bid Bond form provided. In addition, Guarantee Bonds in the form of a Construction Performance Bond for 100% of the Bid and a Construction Payment Bond, in an amount equal to 100% of the Bid will be required. The CITY OF WEST MIAMI reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive any and all informalities or irregularities and to accept or reject all or any part of any bid as they may deem to be in the best interest of the citizens of the CITY OF WEST MIAMI. The City of West Miami proposes to demolish the existing single story, 950 square foot structure and construct a new 4,200 square foot Fitness Center as an addition to the existing Recreation Facility. The new Fitness Center will be a concrete/masonry structure with a storefront glazing system designed to maximize the natural light and provide visual contact between interior and exterior environments. The storefront glazing system must be designed to meetthe current FBC for HVHZ. The roof of the facility should be designed to match the existing Recreation Facility standing seam metal roof. The Fitness Center will have 2,800 square feet of floor area dedicated to cardio and weight training equipment and an adjacent floor area to conduct group exercise activities. The exercise area will have 3/8" thick heavy duty rubber gym floor covering. Ceilings will a be 2'x2' lay-in acoustical tegular panel and grid system with 2' x 2' lay-in LED light fixtures and supply and return registers. The Fitness Centerincludes ADA compliant accessible Men's and Women'stoilet rooms, a janitor's closet, a storage room and an emergency generator room. A mechanical room shall be provided and shall have exterior access from the service drive located immediately north of the new Facility. The emergency generatorroom shall have 8" CMU walls with sound attenuation from the exercise area. Upon contracting, the Design-Builder shall prepare a design development floor plan from the conceptual floor plan provided as part of the preliminary design stage. The new plan shall be submitted to the OWNER forreview and approval. Following review and comment resolution of the design development document phase, the Design-Builder shall prepare and submit final plan, addressing and / or incorporating OWNER's comments until final approval by the OWNER is granted. In addition, the existing racquetball CMU/concrete structure shall be modified with a roof enclosure. The roof enclosure structure shall have a metal deck capable of spanning to new steel angle supports at building perimeter. Finish with two layers of 5/8" gypsum board. Lighting shall be low profile LED fixtures. Provide built-up roofing on rigid insulation and HVAC roof-top package unit with metal louver screen enclosure. Patch, paint and finish to match existing recreation center.
