The Waste Management and Remediation Division of the Montana Department of Environmental Quality is seeking a contractor to perform coal fire control work and repair surface damage on private land owned by Mr. Dick Iversen located in Richland County,Montana. The site consists of three active coal seam fires (North Fire, North Fire No. 2 and South Fire). The Project falls under the direction of the Abandoned Mine Lands Section.Contractor will be required to mobilize and demobilize; improve and maintain site access; provide water; salvage, stockpile, and replace cover soil; excavate burning coal and extinguish by mixing the hot coal material with the excavated over-burden and other borrow materials; backfill the excavated area of removed burning coal with the "quenched" coal-over-burden material, grade, and contour; fertilize and seed; install perimeter fences; and provide BMP sediment control. The Project location is approximately seven (7) miles southwest of Culbertson, Montana. The Site is south of the Missouri River off of County Road 327. The Site is accessed off Montana HWY 16 and Richland County Roads 152 and 327, and a ranch access road. The Project is located in Sections 20 and 17 of Township 27 North, Range 55 East. Topography of the area is rolling hills and pastureland.
