The current Fire Alarm Control Panel was installed in 1993 and outdated. We need to replace the Fire Alarm system with one that is addressable and up to current code utilizing our UNC design guidelines. For successful completion of project, the new fire alarm system will be installed while keeping the existing fire alarm active. Once the new fire alarm is tested and approved, the existing fire alarm and all components will be removed. It is anticipated that there will be some drywall and plaster patching and painting where existing devices have been removed. There is also trace levels of asbestos that will be encountered during the project, and a list of all tested items will be shared with the awarded contractor. The addressable system must network to either OnyxWorks Network (Notifier) or EBi Network (Honeywell) so both our Building Automation Department and Police Dispatch can view the systems Additional Bidding Instructions Construction schedule is heavily focused on the academic summer months of May-August. Since this is an academic building with classrooms and faculty offices, the awarded contractor will need to work closely with the UNC Project Manager for scheduling work in areas that are scheduled for summer courses. There is also an Audiology clinic in the lower level that operates year-round and work in their area will need to be coordinated with that department through the UNC PM.
