Renovation of a municipal facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

Safety Academy Partial Reroof of Lower Roof Located at: Safety Academy, 6680 N. Teutonia Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53209 a. Remove existing single-ply rubber membrane, insulation, flashings, sheet metal, and related materials down the structurally sloped concrete deck. Existing vapor barrier to remain. b. Prime concrete deck/existing vapor barrier and set one (1) layer of two-inch (2") polyisocyanurate insulation set in solidly in Type IV hot asphalt. c. Set a second layer two-inch (2") polyisocyanurate insulation set in solidly in Type IV hot asphalt staggering all joints from the preceding layers. d. Set a final layer of three-quarter inch (3/4") Perlite insulation set in solidly in Type IV hot asphalt staggering all joints from the preceding layers. e. Install new wood blocking and new area divider as indicated on the roof plans. Properly strip in new flashing to the adjacent roof area. Install new sheet metal cap over area divider. f. All wood blocking on curbs and the perimeter required to accommodate the new roof system and insulation heights are to be included in your base bid. g. Install new four-ply (4) Type VI built up roof system and new two-ply modified bitumen flashing assembly according to the plans and specifications. Finish flashing ply is to be mineral surfaced and all seams are to be heat welded. h. All drains and irregular penetrations, including support posts, are to be flashed using manufacturer's liquid flashing. i. All drains to receive to cast iron bowl strainers. j. Install new aggregate surfacing of Type IV hot asphalt and washed pea gravel. k. Install new through-wall flexible flashing and steel wall pan with receiver according to the plans and specifications. l. Install new pre-manufactured cant/fascia perimeter edge meeting ANSI-SPRI ES-1 wind uplift requirements. Install new receiver-mounted counter-flashing at all vertical wall terminations. All other curbs to receive surface mounted counterflashing. Colors to be selected by Owner from manufacturers standard color series. m. Install new non-penetrating safety rail as indicated on the drawings. The SBE requirement for this project is 25% of the contract base bid. The SBE Compliance Plan (Form A) must be submitted with the bid and is an element of bid responsiveness. Incomplete SBE Compliance Plans (Form A) or inaccurate SBE Compliance Plans will not be accepted and will render the bid unresponsive. If this contract is awarded at $500,000 or higher, 25% of all apprentice labor hours must be worked by apprentices certified for participation in the Residents Preference Program and 40% of all apprentice labor hours must be attributed to apprentices living in the following zip codes: 53204, 53205, 53206, 53208, 53210, 53212, 53215, 53233 Liquidated Damages, per diem: $350 The residency requirement for this project is 40% of all hours worked on the project. One quarter of these hours must be attributable to residents living in the following zip codes: 53204, 53205, 53206, 53208, 53210, 53212, 53215, 53233 Bid Security Required: Bond (either through website or emailed PDF), Certified Check, Cashier's Check or Cash to accompany bid: 10% of the Contractor's Base Bid. For those bids being submitted through website and using a Paper Bond, the contractor may email a signed/executed copy of the bid bond to the Department of Public Works Contract Office by emailing DPWbids@milwaukee.gov. All Contractors awarded a contract valued at $25,000.00 or more are required to participate in training on the City of Milwaukee's B2GNow contract compliance software. Contractors must complete the training no later than 30 days after the date of contract award. Throughout the contract term, Contractors are required to regularly provide timely subcontractor payment information in the City's contract compliance software.
