Work includes furnishing and installing approximately 9,600 linear feet of 4-inch steel gas pipe complete and in place, along with necessary clearing, grubbing, temporary erosion control, permanent grassing, traffic control, and other necessary items. Work is located on ALDOT right-of-way and all work shall be in accordance with the ALDOT permit issued for the work. A Cashier's Check drawn on an Alabama bank or a Bidder's Bond, payable to South Alabama Utilities for an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount bid shall be filed with the proposal, the Bidder's Bond being prepared on the form specified and signed by a bonding company authorized to do business in the State of Alabama. A Performance Bond in the form and terms approved by the Owner in an amount not less than the sum of the bid will be required at the signing of the Contract, and in addition, a bond in form and terms approved by the Owner insuring payment for all labor and materials will be required. In addition, the Contractor must furnish at the time of the signing of the Contract a certificate of insurance coverage as provided in the specifications which will include Comprehensive Insurance, Contractor's Automobile Liability Insurance, Owner's Protective Liability Insurance, or a Comprehensive General and Public Liability policy naming the Owner, Engineer, and their agents and employees as additionally insured, and where applicable, Subcontractor's Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance. The right is reserved to reject any and/or all bids and to waive informalities and to furnish any item of material or work to change the amount of said Contract. Liquidated damages for non-compliance of the work within the time limit agreed upon will be assessed in accordance with the terms of the Contract. Each bid must be submitted in a sealed envelope on forms provided in the specifications and shall be clearly marked as bid for: Gas Line Replacement Project along U.S. Highway 45 (SAU Bid 21-05). The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any formalities in the bidding. Contractors bidding on this project must hold a current license from the State Licensing Board of General Contractors, Montgomery, Alabama. No bids will be considered unless the bidder, whether resident or non-resident of Alabama, is properly qualified to submit a proposal for this construction in accordance with all applicable laws of the State of Alabama. This shall include evidence of holding a current license from the State Licensing Board for General Contractors, Montgomery, Alabama, as required by Chapter 8 of Title 34, of the Code of Alabama, 1975. In addition, non-residents of the State, if a corporation, shall show evidence of having qualified with the Secretary of State to do business in the State of Alabama. No plans and specifications will be issued to contractors later than 4:00 p.m. local time on the Thursday prior to the bid date. All bids must be on blank forms provided in the Specifications and submitted in its entirety. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of 60 days subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the Owner. Contract Time - 90 calendar days
