Demolition, renovation and addition to a medical facility in Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the addition of a 4,500-square-foot, one-story above grade medical facility.
This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is intended to establish a list of pre-qualified mechanical contractors who are eligible to submit competitive bids for the mechanical scope of work required for the construction of the new Emergency Department at Lady Minto Hospital on Salt Spring Island. The Lady Minto Emergency Department (ED) Redevelopment will see construction of a single story 420m2 (4,500 sq.ft.) addition that will interface with the existing building via a connecting link through a new vestibule at the front entry. The scope of the new construction will include, but not be limited to, the following work: Demolition of existing front entry canopy; Expansion of existing parking lot, with power to sea-cans, power to parking lighting; (Phase 1 - Only) Construction of a new single storey Emergency Department of approximately 420m2 (4,500 sq.ft.) with link to existing hospital through the existing front entry location. The new building will include, but not be limited to, the following program elements: Public Zone: Entry Vestibule, Accessible W/C, Waiting Room, Triage Alcove; Care Zone: Care Team Station, Medication Room, Three (3) Treatment Bays, Two (2) Recliner Treatment Bays, Staff Room, Staff W/C, Accessible W/C, Clean Supply Room, Soiled Room, Contact Precaution Room, Major Trauma/Treatment Room, Interview Room; Service Spaces: Water Entry Room, IMIT Room, Bottle Room, Vacuum Room, Electrical Room, Housekeeping, Ambulance Cupboard, Decontamination Shower. New BC Hydro transformer connection; Tie-ins and alterations to existing emergency power generators including coordination of shutdowns with FMO, temporary power connections, new generator controls for Synchronization and new generator Synchronization switchboard. Expansion of the existing hospital server room. The existing Emergency Department has no adjacency to the new construction and will continue to provide services during construction of the new building. For the sole purpose of providing a reference for similar projects in the Proponents technical submission, the total estimated construction costs of the Project are $5,300,000, with a mechanical scope estimated at $1,700,000. This amount includes all contractor fees and all construction costs. This amount excludes the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and design fees. The project value listed reflects the total project estimate.
