Renovation of a multi-residential development in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a multi-residential development.

The New Bedford Housing Authority, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from Contractors for the Selected Upgrade of Sprinkler System REBID in New Bedford, Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by C.A. Crowley Engineering, Inc.. The Project consists of: Install new supervised isolation valves and drain valves on existing risers; flush piping and replace existing sprinklers; relocate and install new sprinklers for improved coverage; replace fire pump controller and rework sensing lines; install backflow preventers; install signage. The work is estimated to cost $223,000. Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 44A-J & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.l49 26 to 27H inclusive. General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in the following category of work, Fire Protection Sprinkler System, and must submit a current DCAMM Certificate of Eligibility and signed DCAMM Prime/General Contractor Update Statement. General bids and sub-bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (considering all alternates), and made payable to the New Bedford Housing Authority. This deposit will be refunded for up to two sets for general bidders and for one set for sub-bidders upon return of the sets in good condition within thirty (30) days of receipt of general bids. Otherwise the deposit shall be the property of the Awarding Authority. Additional sets may be purchased for $50.00 Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $40.00 per set for UPS Ground (or $65.00 per set for UPS overnight), nonrefundable, payable to the BidDocs ONLINE Inc., to cover mail handling costs. General bidders must agree to contract with minority and women business enterprises as certified by the Supplier Diversity Office (SDO), formerly known as SOMWBA. The combined participation benchmark reserved for such enterprises shall not be less than 13.0% of the final contract price including accepted alternates. Request for waivers must be sent to DHCD (Da vid .McC lave@mass.gov) 5 calendar days prior to the General Bid date - No waivers will be granted after the general bids are opened. Site Visit by Appointment: None Completion Date: 150 Calendar Days. Pursuant to his/her obligations under the preceding section, the Contractor shall strive to achieve on this project the labor participation goals contained herein. The participation goals for this project shall be 15.3% for minorities and 6.9% for women.
