Comal County Mental Health Extended Observation Unit (EOU)/Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) Facility is a Comal County, ARPA funded, construction project. The Comal County Mental Health Facility is to include new construction of a sixteen thousand seventy-nine square foot (16,079 SF) behavioral health facility containing six (6) involuntary sleeping rooms and ten (10) voluntary sleeping rooms as well as showering facilities, day rooms, dining room, kitchen, counseling and office space, nurses' station, and all associated site work. As of May 6, 2025, a general contractor has been selected. Groundbreaking ceremony was held December 2024. A firm timeline to construction start has not been disclosed.
