Description

Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Livingston, Montana. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a municipal facility.

The transfer station receives hundreds of tons of green waste every year. The volume that is able to be processed into compost is minimal with the capacity of the WRF composting operation. In addition, excess material must be burned or is deposited at the Swingley property. The WRF is not able to utilize all of its biosolid waste into compost at this time and pays to have it removed to the landfill. A composting facility would utilize more of the biosolids waste from the WRF, as well as the large quantity of green waste, in an effective manner so that carbon and nitrogen may be balanced properly, to create a sellable compost product. The project is included in the city's 2022-2026 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
