The Battle River School Division (BRSD) has retained BR2 Architecture as "Prime Consultant" to prepare Design and Contract Documents, for the modernization and expansion of an existing facility. BRSD has purchased the Richard Husfloen Centre from the University of Alberta with the intent to centrally locate the School Division services to one site. The project will be developed in a phased approach to align with the BRSD capital planning. The first phase will comprise of the modernization and interior renovation of the existing building, including mechanical and electrical upgrades. Minor exterior building and site improvements will also be reviewed and incorporated as required. This first phase will allow for the BRSD Administration team, Transportation Services, Administration and Information Services to be housed in one building. Subsequent phases will include modifications for the Transportation garage, a wash bay addition, new Transportation bus storage facility and a new building to house the Facility Services Department. The Project will be procured under a Construction Management agreement with the option to switch the contract over from the CCDC5B CM agreement to a Stipulated sum contract once the project is ready for construction. The form of contract between BRSD and the successful General Contractor will be CCDC-5B with the option to turn the project into a stipulated price contract after the contract documents have been developed. The construction budget is approximately $2,000,000.00 exclusive of GST. The total combined finished floor area of 2,145 m2 The project will be reviewed for tendering of individual scopes of work to reduce the overall project duration. Construction to start on or about February 2022. Project substantial performance to be determined in consultation with the Contractor and Owner.
