The project is generally described as a lab alteration project covering 398 total square feet, located on the first floor of the VCU Health Sciences Research Building. The project scope includes construction and outfit of one wet lab. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and VCU Alertus System modification is part of this project scope. Lab casework will be owner-furnished, and general contractor installed and coordinated. Plumbing fixtures will be owner-furnished and general contractor installed. For contracts with a value exceeding Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000), the Contractor shall deliver to the Owner or its designated representative, a Commonwealth of Virginia Standard Performance Bond, DGS-30-084 (CO-10) and a Commonwealth of Virginia Standard Labor and Material Payment Bond, DGS-30-088 (CO-10.1), each fully executed by the Contractor and one or more surety companies legally licensed to do business in Virginia and each in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Price. The University reserves the right to cancel the IFB, to reject any and all bids at its sole discretion when such rejection is in the interest of the University, or to reject the bid of any bidder who is determined to be not responsive or not responsible.
