The Ministry of Natural Resources operates 9 fish culture stations throughout the Province of Ontario. The Chatsworth Fish Culture Station is located at 236292 Con 2B, PO Box 219, Chatsworth, ON, N0H 1G0. The Chatsworth Fish Culture Station needs to replace aged Early Rearing Water Supply Infrastructure as per Attachment 2, Form of Agreement. The aged Early Rearing Water Supply infrastructure needs to be replaced, in order to provide secure and enhanced water supply to the Early Rearing facility. This is required to ensure a reliable water supply. This project needs to be completed by Sept 1, 2022, in order to meet the water supply needs of the Chatsworth Fish Culture Station. The water supply to the Early Rearing (ER) facility at the Chatsworth Fish Culture Station is in need of repair. The flow rate into the facility is up to 3,000 Lpm; however, in recent years the maximum flow has been recorded at about 2,800 Lpm. During times of low flow, the total available water can be as low as 2,000 Lpm. The new aeration system is intended to increase the dissolved oxygen in the water supply by one or two parts per million. Radon is also a potential issue at the Chatsworth facility, although monitoring has indicated that radon levels are generally within acceptable limits. Nevertheless, the new aeration system is also intended to strip radon from the water supply and ventilate it to the atmosphere before the water enters the building. The main objectives for this initiative are as follows: - Remove and replace the wooden and gravel dam in the spring-fed pond; - Remove the existing distribution pipes extending from the existing dam; - Install new distribution pipes from the new dam to the aeration tower - Install a new concrete head tank adjacent to the stairs behind the ER building; - Install the custom fiberglass aeration tower into the concrete tank (note that the fiberglass tower has already been procured under separate contract by the Ministry); - Install new distribution pipe from the concrete head tank and connect it to the hatchery in- flow lines where indicated.
