The City of Joliet is accepting qualifications to provide professional engineering services for sanitary sewer investigations and development and implementation of a sanitary sewer rehabilitation program. The City provides wastewater services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers, and also provides wastewater services to private utilities, and private sanitary districts covering over 60 square miles across Will and Kendall Counties. The City owns, operates, and maintains three wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) to treat the wastewater produced by these customers - East Side WWTP, West Side WWTP and the Aux Sable WWTP. Fifty sanitary pumping stations, located throughout the city, help transfer the wastewater from approximately 608 miles of sanitary sewers to the three WWTPs. Pipe diameters range from 3" to 72". There are approximately 13,600 manholes in the system. The service area for the East Side WWTP has both combined and separate sewers which were generally constructed in the 1920s-1950s. The service area for the West Side WWTP has only separate sewers which were constructed in the 1950s-1980s. The service area for the Aux Sable WWTP has only separate sewers which were constructed in the 1990s-2000s.
