As of April 1, 2022, information regarding the apparent low bidder has been disclosed and they will most likely be awarded. There is no timeline yet as to how long it will take on the owner's end before they are ready to start. City of Huntington Beach is seeking lifeguard tower refurbishments for the City of Huntington Beach Fire Department. Online Q&A : Yes Q&A Deadline : 01/05/2022 4:00 PM (PST) 1. Remove the tower structure from the metal base on sight. Leave the metal base at the beach. 2. Transport off of beach to repair location. 3. Remove railing and stairs. 4. Remove phone equipment, bases, cabling. 5. Replace rusted metal supports with marine grade treated wood, fiberglass and resin, or new stainless or marine grade metal. Repair the fiberglass that has been displaced behind the door hinges. 6. Replace the rusted metal on the lower metal support beams to eliminate the rusted portion and repair the fiberglass covering the beams. 7. Repair any worn, damaged, or broken doors and flaps. 8. Repair and reinforce flaps where necessary, especially the front flaps. 9. Replace door and flap hinges with new stainless steel hinges. 10. Reinstall doors and flaps. 11. Replace any damaged fasteners with new stainless fasteners. 12. Remove all worn, rusted, damaged, or broken hardware and replace any damaged fasteners/ hardware with new stainless fasteners/ hardware. 13. Remove all latches. Replace with new stainless latches. Use larger, more secure latches than the pin latches. The second door latches need to be more secure because there is no lock securing the door. 14. Repair and reinforce fiberglass latch points of doors and door jambs for better fit and security. 15. Reinforce deck of tower where worn or damaged. 16. Apply medium grit non-skid to entire deck stopping at the downturn at the edge. 17. Clean and prepare all tower surfaces 18. Apply gelcoat to all tower surfaces with specified blue color 19. Transport tower back to beach and replace all hardware 20. Transport the tower structure back to the beach 21. Reinstall tower structure on the metal base. 22. Reinstall railing and stairs. 23. Reinstall phone equipment, bases, cabling.
