Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in San Bernardino, California. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 66,238-square-foot laboratory facility.

This project will construct a new Interdisciplinary Science Laboratory building (#69) at a vacant site immediately west of the existing Chemical Sciences (#37). This new facility will include Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Geological Sciences, and Physics teaching laboratories and graduate research space. This project will also further consolidate the College of Natural Sciences (CNS) by relocating and expanding the Computer Science and Engineering department, CNS administrative spaces, and STEM Success Center. This project is expected to provide an additional 211 FTE in teaching lab capacity. The existing space vacated by CNS will be repurposed to accommodate future campus growth. TIMELINE: As of September 17, 2026, preliminary design is underway. The architect has not been selected. Drawings are scheduled to begin July 2027. Schematics are scheduled to be approved December 2027. Preliminary plans will be complete March 2028. Working drawings will be complete March 2029. The Notice to Proceed will construction will be issued August 2029 with construction completion August 2031. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
