The Regional Authority of Carlton Trail (REACT) Waste Management District is issuing an invitation of Proposal the Drainage Feasibility Study for the landfill in Humboldt. The Humboldt REACT Landfill was a regional landfill that served the City of Humboldt, 26 surrounding towns and villages and 15 rural municipalities of the area. It has been converted to a transfer station. The landfill is located 6.5 km south of Humboldt immediately west of Highway 20. Joe Lake is located at the south side of the landfill and the Humboldt Lake is at the East side on the other side of the highway. A site visit is highly recommended to understand the scope of the project. The REACT Humboldt Landfill experienced severe flooding due to higher-than-average rainfall and runoff in 2006. Continued above average precipitation amounts in 2007 to 2012 compounded the flooding issues. To resolve the flooding issues proper drainage is required to run the facility properly, protect the environment and save Joe Lake from contamination. Therefore, the consultant will make a Drainage Feasibility Study with all necessary inspections, surveying and research, if required. All meetings will occur at REACT office unless Covid-19 restriction prevents them. If COVID-19 restrictions prevent office meetings, meetings will take place by zoom or in an alternate location which can accommodate social distancing and provincial guidelines.
