Summary of Project o Choctaw County has elected to build a new jail facility at the location of the current jail located in Butler, Alabama. To accomplish the goal of constructing a new jail facility, it will be necessary to demolish the current facility. General Scope & Contractor's Responsibilities o Provide all manpower, equipment, licenses, and insurance and bonds to safely demolish the current Choctaw County Jail and haul away all debris. o Provide all equipment & tools needed to complete this project. Other Matters 1. All General Contractors bidding on this project shall be required to visit the site and examine all existing conditions prior to submitting their proposal. Prior to visiting the site, the Contractor shall set up an appointment to inspect the site by contacting the Choctaw County Administration Office at 205-459-2100 Ext. 1. 2. All Bidders shall have general liability and workman's compensation insurance. 3. Bidders will have the option of bidding on the Demolition Project without the break-up of cement, with the break-up of cement, or both. 4. The successful Bidder will be required to execute a Demolition Agreement substantially the same as one of the two Demolition Agreements contained in the bid package. 5. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owner's judgment, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted. All Bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Choctaw County Commission. All Bidders shall show such evidence by clearly displaying a current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered. Demolish and haul away the current Choctaw County Jail. The demolition shall also include the concrete slab and any asphalt or concrete located within the fenced-in area at the Choctaw County Jail Prior to demolition work beginning, the Contractor will install a screen on or near the inside security fence to prevent construction debris and projectiles from going through the security fence. The disconnect of utilities to the jail facility will be undertaken by the County. Demolition shall not occur until the County representative advises that all utilities have been disconnected. All underground sewage, water, and gas lines shall be removed and hauled to the Choctaw County Regional Landfill. Any material and debris from the demolition site shall be disposed of at the Choctaw County Regional Landfill free of charge. Such material and debris will remain the property ofChoctaw County. Prior to completion ofthe project, the Contractor will smooth over the ground at the jail facility but bringing in new dirt will not be required For purposes of clarification, the current security fence is not to be demolished.
