Box 223340 Carmel, CA 93922 Federal Express Delivery: Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District Attn: Kelly McCullough Bid Bond for PCRP Barn Roof Stabilization Project 4860 Carmel Valley Road Carmel, CA 93923 Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District ("MPRPD") is requesting sealed bids from qualified licensed contractor's to perform the following scope of work: A. Remove deteriorated horizontal 1x floor sheathing (see diagram for locations) and install exterior grade tongue-and-groove plywood sheathing. Match plywood thickness to the existing 1x sheathing thickness. Fasten with #10 x 2 1/2" flat head wood screws at 6-inches on center spacing at plywood edges and 12-inches on center spacing at field conditions. Install and strengthen damaged wood floor framing below plywood as discovered during construction. Use "like-kind" and size pressure-treated material. Fasten framing members to existing with staggered 10d nails at 6-inches on center. B. Sister full-length 2x6 LVL (laminated veneer lumber, an engineered wood product) to each side of the existing deteriorated 6x roof framing member at this location. Use 12d nails at 6-inches on center staggered spacing to connect members to existing framing. C. Remove existing metal roofing (see diagram for locations) and deteriorated horizontal 2x framing to the horizontal metal roof seam approximately half the distance to the ridge. Replace all horizontal 2x4 framing with "like-kind" material of the same size. Use (2) 10d nails at each rafter connection. Strengthen deteriorated 2x rafters by sistering a full-length, same-sized, "likekind" material member. Fasten framing together with 10d nails at 6-inches on center spacing. Replace metal roofing and fasten to roof framing with #10 wood screws with neoprene washer at 6-inches maximum on center spacing to all horizontal 2x members. D. Build a new truss (see diagram for location). Match existing truss member sizes and material (Alternate: Rebuild original full-height end wall). E. Replace deteriorated 2x6 rafter with "like-kind" and size material or sister a matching member to the side of the existing member. Use staggered 10d nails at 6-inches on center spacing to connected members. F. Sister a full-length, "like-kind" 2x6 to the inside face of the existing deteriorated 6x6 beams. Use staggered 10d nails at 6-inches on center spacing to connected members, typical of two (2) framing bays. G. Remove existing damaged metal roofing material and damaged horizontal 2x members (see diagram for locations). Replace all horizontal 2x4 framing members with "like-kind" material of the same size. Use (2) 10d nails at each rafter connection. Do not install new roofing material in this area. Leave framing exposed. Paint exposed framing. H. Install four (4) continuous flat 2x6 DF (Douglas Fir) #2 horizontal braces to the underside of sloped roof rafters. Use (2) 10d nails at each rafter connection I. Add additional fasteners at loose roofing locations. J. Repair eave at this location to match existing. K. Install new metal roofing in the location where the existing metal roof material is missing. Fasten to existing roof framing with #10 wood screws with neoprene washer at 6-inches on center to all horizontal 2x members. L. Install addition fasteners at the existing horizontal metal roof seams, typical at all horizontal roof laps. Fasten to existing roof framing with #10 wood screws with neoprene washer at 6" on center to all horizontal 2x members. M. Remove eave where damaged at this location back to the face of the existing wall. Install bent angle roof edge full length of the roof to wall connection.
