Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Kearney, Nebraska. Completed plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field; and for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.
Outdoor Shelter, Playground, Associated Concrete Work, and Installation at the New Lighthouse Park The proposal will include material, labor and equipment to construct a shelter and concrete shelter pad, playground equipment, and turf playground surface, and connecting concrete sidewalks. The City of Kearney is an equal opportunity employer and requires all contractors, consultants, etc. to comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations. The City of Kearney reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to accept the proposals it believes is in the best interest of the community. Questions must be submitted no later than Thursday, February 17, 2022. Questions submitted after that date will not be considered. Shelter should be a minimum of twenty-eight-feet (28') in diameter, large enough to fit three (3), 6-foot (6') picnic tables and 1(1) 8-foot (8') ADA table comfortably underneath. Benches shall be purchased separate by the City. The shelter shall be located at the location identified on the site plan. o Shelter shall have a hexagon shape, high-pitched hipped roof with cupola. o The diameter of posts and beams shall be a minimum of six-inch (6") x six inch (6") and beams should be in proportion to the structure and sized to carry the loads of the roof. o Shelter should have a minimum ground snow load of 30 psf, a 90-mph wind load, and designed to Exposure C. o All hardware and anchoring systems shall be corrosion resistant. o Future electrical conduit must be able to move throughout the beam and not exposed. o Posts shall be attached to Simpson Strong-Tie Connectors or equivalent anchors capable of preventing uplift of the shelter. Assurance shall be provided with regards to the method of anchoring the support posts in order to meet or exceed the minimum design standards. o If metal posts or beams are used, powder-coating is the preferred, but not required, finish that is UV and chemical resistant and suitable for public spaces. o All accessible edges shall be machined to a rounded finish. All welds shall be buffed smooth, and polished to a non-visible finish. o Footings: The type of concrete to be used for the footings should be identified on the drawings and should be based on the load the footings will carry. A Nebraska Engineer stamped drawing showing concrete footing detail should be provided to the City with this submittal. The drawing will be reviewed by the City's Building Department for compliance with local building codes before Notice of Award. If awarded the project, the Contractor/Vendor will be responsible for coordinating a footing inspection with the City's Building Department before any concrete is poured for the shelter. o Shelter Concrete Slab Site and Base Preparations: - The site shall be prepared at the appropriate grade for the concrete floating slab. The interaction between the concrete slab and column footings shall be coordinated with the shelter manufacturer recommendations, as well as the structure footing design previously described. - The top of the poured concrete should be approximately 3-inches (3") higher than the existing grade. - Site preparation shall include stripping a minimum of eight-inches (8") of topsoil. - All material excavated shall be retained by the owner and stockpiled onsite. - The resulting subgrade shall be scarified and compacted to a depth of 6-inches (6") and brought to the bottom of crushed concrete sub base uniform grade. Project Budget Preference given to proposals that do not exceed the amount of $140,000, but meet proposal requirements.
