Renovation of an educational facility in Iowa City, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Work indicated in the Documents shall include all work including site preparation, utilities, construction, mechanical, and electrical work required to construct a fully operational educational facility in compliance with the requirements of the contract documents. Work on the improvement shall be commenced immediately upon notice to proceed to be issued after February 8, 2022, by the Board, and be completed as stated below. Bids shall be addressed and delivered to the Owner at the reception desk of the Facilities Office, 1137 S Riverside Drive, Iowa City, Iowa, in sealed envelopes in strict compliance with instructions contained in the bid documents. A single lump-sum bid shall be submitted on forms supplied as part of the proposed contract documents. Proposal shall cover: Work indicated in the Documents shall include all work including site preparation, utilities, construction, mechanical, and electrical work required to construct a fully operational educational facility in compliance with the requirements of the contract documents. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashiers check from an Iowa bank, or an acceptable bid bond. The bid security shall be in an amount not less than 5% of the bid. The bid security will be held by the Owner until a contract is fully executed and bonds are approved by the Owner. No bidder may withdraw their bid for a period of 30 days after the scheduled time for receipt of bids. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids received or to waive informalities. It also reserves the right to consider the experience and responsibility of the bidder in its determination as to which Bid it deems to be in its best interest. It may defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed 30 days, pending necessary details. The District seeks to provide opportunities for Targeted Small Businesses in the awarding of contracts and is authorized to award contracts to Targeted Small Businesses per the Iowa Acts of the 73rd General Assembly, 1989 Regular Session, Senate File 2274. For further information about the Targeted Small Business polices, contact the manager of Buildings and Grounds. This project has a target for Targeted Small Business participation of ten percent (10%). Bidders shall be prepared to submit a performance and payment bond conditioned on the faithful performance of the contract. Out-of-state bidders shall be prepared to submit an Out-of State Contractor Bond to the Iowa Division of Labor in accordance with Chapter 91C of the Code of Iowa. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced with the State of Iowa, and to Iowa labor to the extent lawfully required under Iowa law. Iowa law provides that on public improvements a resident bidder shall be allowed preference as against a nonresident bidder from a state or foreign country which gives or requires a preference to bidders from that state or foreign country. The preference so allowed shall be equivalent to the preference given or required by the state or foreign country in which the nonresident bidder is a resident. Additional document sets may be secured for $100.00 per set without refund. All documents shall be returned to Rapid Reproductions.
