Citrus County Florida ( County ) invites interested parties to submit a bid to furnish and place asphaltic concrete and bituminous sand seal coatings meeting State of Florida Department of Transportation Specifications on sections of Citrus County roadways (maintenance). County will appropriate approximately $52,300 SPECIFICATIONS FOR ASPHALTIC CONCRETE 1. Material used shall be Asphalt Concrete meeting State of Florida Department of Transportation Specifications. Asphalt shall be put in place by machine and shall be compacted to a thicknessand width specified by the Director of Road Maintenance. Asphalt shall be rolled with a tandem roller weighing not less than 8 tons. Asphalt shall be traffic rolled for not less than 4 passes. 2. All areas will be prepared for asphalt by the County. 3. All driveways shall be paved as determined by the Director of Road Maintenance. Intersecting roads shall be paved to right-of-way line or as directed by the Director of Road Maintenance. 4. Tack Coat will be required on all previously constructed surfaces before applying an asphaltic concrete leveling course of surface course. Rule of application to be between 0.02 to 0.08 gal/yd 5. Leveling of Old Road Re-Surfaces: Type SP-9.5 asphalt concrete will be used for all leveling courses, unless otherwise directed at the rate specified by the Director of Road Maintenance. All leveling will be done by the ton in place. Successful bidder shall be required to apply tack coat to all surfaces to be leveled. Successful bidder is required to thoroughly clean all surfaces with a power-driven broom prior to tack Coat application. All leveling courses shall be rolled. Scale weight tickets will be required for each load of asphalt used. SPECIFICATIONS FOR SAND SEAL COAT 1. This work consists of furnishing and application of bituminous sand seal coats on previously prepared bases and the furnishing and application of a sand cover. 2. Bituminous material shall be Special MS Emulsion diluted at a ratio of 6 parts emulsified asphalt to 4 parts water. The cover material shall be sand. The sand shall be non-plastic and free from any appreciable amount of silt, clay balls and root particles, and from any noticeable sticks, trash, vegetation, and other organic matter.
