The purpose of this Request for Proposal is to select one (1) qualified Proponent to enter into Contract (Appendix A) with the Providence Health Care ("PHC") to provide general construction services for the St. Paul's Hospital ("SPH") Nuclear Medicine SPECT Project (the "Project"). The Providence Health Care requires a Contractor to renovate two (2) existing rooms 2527 and 2528 (total area of 60 square metres) to create a new SPECT Scan Room, a Control Room and a stretcher alcove within the Nuclear Medicine Department at St. Paul's Hospital, in preparation for the new SPECT-CT scanner to be installed by Siemens Healthcare Limited St. Paul's Hospital Nuclear Medicine Department currently has three (3) Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) Scanners. The closest equivalent cameras to provide similar diagnostics are in Victoria and in the Interior. The addition of this new SPECT-CT scanner will supplement an aging fleet of existing scanners to ensure patients are not redirected to other sites during planned and unscheduled downtimes. Ultimately, this Project will increase patient, family, and staff satisfaction; improve patient care and safety; and help SPH meet the current and future needs of its programs, services and patients. Installation of the new SPECT-CT scanner will help increase imaging capacity and help the department maintain the ability to offer the unique diagnostic services and will ensure that SPH Nuclear Medicine can support patient care until their move to the new St. Paul's Hospital, expected within seven (7) years.
