The bids will be for all labor, materials, equipment, tools, appliances etc. Necessary for construction of the jfk plaza front steps renovation Construction Participation for this Project : MBEs (4.2%) and WBEs (8.8%) The work under this Contract consists of the renovation the front steps in front of JFK Plaza, located at approximately 50 Arcand Drive, Lowell MA. As part of this contract, there is a Base Bid and two (2) Add Alternates, as described below: Base Bid: Removal of existing precast concrete treads from all steps within JFK Plaza, construction of a cast-in-place concrete wall (with formliner) to be drilled and grouted into the existing steps to create a planter, placing new cast-in-place concrete treads on all proposed steps, installing contractor designed/detailed handrails on the proposes steps, replacement of brick walk at the top of all concrete steps, concrete patch repairs to the existing piers between staircases, backfilling planters, installing lighting features, and installing plantings provided by City. Add Alternate 1: Concrete repairs to the staircase leading up to the footbridge adjacent to City Hall, remove and replace metal nosing on all steps, remove and replace concrete precast concrete treads at the bottom of the steps, and replacing deteriorated brick walkway at the bottom of the steps. Add Alternate 2: Removal of existing precast concrete treads from all proposed planter locations along Arcand Drive, construction of a cast-in-place concrete wall (with formliner) to be drilled and grouted into the existing steps to create a planter (double walled in some locations), backfilling planters, installing lighting features, and installing plantings provided by City. All work shall take place between the hours of 7:00AM and 3:30PM unless otherwise approved by the Engineer.
