The Water Authority supplies treated water to its member agencies along the First Aqueduct. The First Aqueduct consists of several pipelines and contains six tunnels to convey water by gravity where the topography would have required pumping. Buried concrete structures at each tunnel bifurcate the water. A previous study identified structural deficiencies and recommended structural, hydraulic, and operational improvements to each of these structures. The selected design consultant will evaluate and develop improvements to address structural deficiencies and enhance operational flexibility of the First Aqueduct treated water bifurcation structures and the Hubbard Hill vent structures.
