For furnishing all labor, equipment materials and incidentals necessary to properly construct a water main connection loop along the east side of North Pine Street. The water main shall be located along the east borrow ditch of North Pine Street, near the termination of the concrete street and north along the gravel section of North Pine Street. The project shall begin near an existing fire hydrant and then north to an existing water main. The north termination has an existing 8 diameter gate valve and then a short nipple with a cap and concrete thrust blocking. The approximate length of the water main project is 643 lineal feet, including the installation of a fire hydrant assembly with a six-inch diameter gate valve and box. There will be one water pressure test and laboratory testing of the new water main installation. The Contractor shall be responsible for furnishing all labor, equipment, materials and incidentals necessary to properly construct an 8 diameter WATER MAIN LOOP CONNECTION along the east side of North Pine Street as indicated on the plans and specifications. The approximate length of the 8 diameter water main is 643 lineal feet. The water main shall include appropriate fire hydrants and line valves. The extent of the work (All labor, materials, equipment, supplies and incidentals shall be furnished by the Contractor) for Water Main Connection consists of connecting to the existing water main on the east side of North Pine Street, near the intersection of Niobrara. And then proceeding to the north along the east side of North Pine Street to the existing gate valve on the north end of the project. A review of the site will be included in the pre-bid meeting. Bids will be opened at or as soon as possible thereafter, the bids will be opened on in the presence of all bidders in attendance. The working pressure of the existing water main is 60 psi. Excavation and backfilling of the water main trench shall require conformance with OSHA and 29 CFR 1926, Subpart P. It is contemplated shoring of the pipe trench will be required in the vicinity of the power line poles parallel to the planned water main installation. Backfill shall be compacted to 90% of maximum dry density. Maximum lifts of backfill material shall be 8 loose depth prior to compaction. There has been no test drilling performed on the construction site, but it is contemplated some trench areas may require special bedding for the pipe installation.
