The Greenway Conservancy for the Hudson River Valley, Inc. (the Greenway), in collaboration with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve (the Reserve) is seeking a Contractor to transport and offload an estimated 8,136 concrete oyster castles (113 pallets) to the Piermont Marsh shoreline (Hudson River Mile 24) via barge. The Contractor will accept delivery of the oyster castles by ground freight and provide a temporary upland storage location until they can be transported by water and offloaded at the shoreline project site. The oyster castles are a core component of a pilot shoreline stabilization project that will be implemented by the Greenway in July 2022. The primary purpose of the project is to stabilize a section of eroding shoreline at Piermont Marsh, located in Orangetown, NY (Rockland County), and protect important tidal wetland habitat. The project involves the construction of two parallel oyster castle sills positioned at mean lower low water and mean sea level to reduce wave energy over the entire tidal range and promote landward sediment accretion
