Renovation of a transportation facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.

Questions are due on Friday, February 4, 2022 no later than 12:00 pm to rburden@septa.org and will be answered in writing and uploaded to ePS as an addendum. The contract duration is five hundred forty-eight (548) calendar days from the notice to proceed. This work covers the electrical, mechanical, and fire protection work required to install a new platform level fire alarm system to meet all relevant codes and standards. The work will be executed through multiple prime contracts representing significant elements of work for each Contractor. This specification covers the electrical, mechanical, and fire protection work required to install a new platform level fire alarm system to meet all relevant codes and standards; replace 5 existing exhaust fanswhile providing a new computer based control and indication system for operation and indications for the exhaust fans; build a new Auxiliary Fire Alarm Control Room. The work will be executed through multiple prime contracts representing significant elements of work for each Contractor. The Work shall be performed concurrently and in close coordination with the respective Prime Contractors listed in these construction documents, and possibly other trades working at the site. a. A new fire detection system in the platform areas. b. Replacement of 6 existing non-functioning exhaust fans. c. Replacement of all dampers associated with the existing exhaust fans that are being replaced. Any dampers replaced will be rated for high temperatures. d. Provide a control system that will allow for all 11 existing exhaust fans to be turned on and off individually from the new Auxiliary Fire Alarm System Room as well as locally from each fan. Control in the Auxiliary Fire Alarm Control Room shall be via a wall mounted panel. Contractor shall utilize the information shown on the electrical and fire alarm plans and specs and submit his proposed control design for approval by SEPTA. e. In addition, the on/off control system shall include reporting back to the wall mounted control in the Auxiliary Fire Alarm Control Room that each fan is either running or not running via indication lights on the ventilation control panel. f. Replace existing fluorescent lighting in the chamber under Love Park (where fans 7, 8. 9, 10, and 11 reside. Add 1 new LED light fixture between each fan (5 new LED light fixtures including associated conduit). All new lighting will be LED. Contractor to provide new wiring and luminaires and utilize the existing conduits. Contractor will evaluate conduit for the existing lighting under Love Park and replace with conduit in-kind if determined not usable. g. The new Auxiliary Fire Alarm System Room shall be built in a portion of the existing Room 121 and shall contain the new fire alarm system (linear heat detection panel) and remote exhaust fan control system panel and all other required equipment. Provide new LED lighting and convenience receptacles for the room. Provide a split HVAC system for the new room and the condensing unit will be placed adjacent to an old abandoned condensing unit one level down in the T-basement from the new room location. New walls to be built will have an appropriate fire rating. A new fire rated door will be installed for the room. No part of the new HVAC system will be exposed to the public areas. The existing non- functional duct work and the unused copper water line currently located in the new Auxiliary Fire Alarm System Room will be removed. The existing fire sprinkler piping from the new Auxiliary Fire Alarm System Room to the adjacent rear hallway and unoccupied retail space shall be removed and provide reconnection details for the existing sprinkler system portion to remain in the unoccupied portion of room/space 121. Provide new fire sprinkler piping and any associated isolation valves to the new Auxiliary Fire Alarm System Control Room. Existing electrical power panels located in space 121 shall be used to serve the electrical needs of the new Auxiliary Fire Alarm System room and its new components and systems. MBE (17.3%), WBE (6.9%) EC DBE Goal: 10% of the total dollar value of the Contract Sum. MC DBE Goal: 7% of the total dollar value of the Contract Sum.
