This project will include planning, design, improvement, and construction of water lines and related facilities for the Rock Springs Chapter to connect to the Navajo Code Talker Lateral (transmission supply line) of the Navajo Gallup Water Supply Project. Rock Springs and Tsayatoh Chapters are communities located along the proposed transmission pipeline and are teaming to seek funds to connect into this pipeline. Navajo Nation will own the supply line and Navajo Tribal Utility Authority will continue operating and maintaining all new and existing systems. Navajo Nation will be the fiscal agent. The project will provide a reliable water source by developing and enhancing the communities water systems in this region as groundwater supplies diminish. The Project will be implemented in 2 Phases for an approximate 1.3-mile long, 8-inch diameter proposed pipeline (pipeline lengths and diameters are subject to change upon final preliminary engineering report) from the Navajo Code Talker Lateral to connect to Rock Springs Chapter's existing water distribution system that currently serves more than 1,600 residents. A preliminary engineering report is complete that includes design and construction costs. Based on reports, Phase 1 will include acquiring necessary easements and ROWs, archaeological and environmental clearances, required surveys, permitting, and design. Phase 2 will include the construction phase of proposed facilities including water storage tank(s) and water treatment, supply line, water line extensions, and/or improvements to the existing water distribution systems or related facilities. The project is included in the 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
