BVU Authority ("BVU"), a political subdivision of Virginia, is soliciting bids from qualified bidders to provide new wood utility poles designed for electric distribution on an as-needed basis. B.1 Overview. BVU Authority is soliciting bids from qualified bidders to provide new wood utility poles designed for electric distribution on an as-needed basis. B.2 Scope of Goods & Services. Poles shall be Southern Yellow Pine timber and shall be fabricated as defined by the American National Standards Institute, Inc. (ANSI). Poles shall be cured and treated full length in accordance with the latest revision of the American Wood Preservers Association (AWPA) guidelines. Poles shall be inspected by an independent firm. The Contractor shall provide a certificate of inspection when requested by BVU. All poles shall be treated with Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) with an assay treatment retention of at least 0.60. Following the treatment of CCA, the poles' outer layer shall be treated with a hydrocarbon oil emulsion. Poles shall be delivered and unloaded by the contractor at the designated site at the BVU main campus located at 15022 Lee Highway, Bristol, Virginia 24202. Any pole, which has been delivered to the job site and is found to not meet the specifications, will be rejected. Poles that are rejected will be replaced by the contractor at the contractor's expense.
