Renovation of a mixed-use development in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.
Hennepin Technical College is seeking the services of an architecture and engineering consulting team to bring us through design and construction document development, and oversee the construction process for Auditorium Renovations at Brooklyn Park. The auditorium at Hennepin Technical College Brooklyn Park campus has not been updated since 1972. The seating is original (50 years old), is outdated, and needs to better comply with ADA standards. The facility is currently inadequate and unusable for large group instruction, hybrid, or remote learning, as it does not allow for social distancing, it has outdated technology, and does not allow for multiple classes within the space. The auditorium needs to be renovated to allow for pandemic-ready protocol, including social distancing capability, hybrid course offerings via a robust, and capable technological platforms, increased and adequate electrical and data feeds, upgraded audio visual, and sound-proofed mobile acoustical partition panels. The objective is to create flexible options, for holding up to three (3) different classes in a safe, secure and productive manner, and that is ADA compliant.
