On Monday, February 21, 2022, at 5:30 pm in the Administrative Building Board room at 1515 S. Pennsylvania Ave,, Mason City, Iowa, 50401 a public hearing will be held on the proposed plans, specifications and proposed form of Contract for the " Mason City Schools - Hoover Elementary Fire Alarm Replacement, Mason City, IA", and at said hearing, any interested person may appear and file objections thereto or to the cost of said improvement. Proposals will be acted upon by the Mason City Community Schools Board of Directors immediately following the closing of the public hearing at the regularly scheduled board meeting on February 21, 2022, in the Administrative Board Room at 1515 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, Iowa, 50401, or at such later time and place as may then be fixed. Each proposal shall be sealed in an envelope marked "Mason City Schools - Hoover Elementary Fire Alarm Replacement, Mason City, IA". Each bid must be accompanied in a separate envelope by a bidding check, bid bond or a certified share draft in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the bid price, said check being either a cashier's check, a check certified by a bank in Iowa or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States or a certified share draft on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, and made payable to the Mason City Community Schools, as security that the bidder will furnish the required bonds and enter into a contract and furnish bonds within seven (7) days after the award of the contract to him. The Contractor and all Subcontractors shall not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, religion, color, sex, national origin or age. The Contractor shall take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment without regard to their race, religion, color, sex, national origin or age. Such action shall include, but not be limited to the following; employment, upgrading, demotion or transfer; recruitment or recruitment advertising; layoff or termination; rates of pay or other forms of compensation; and selection for training, including apprenticeship. The Contractor agrees to post in conspicuous places, available to employees and applicants for employment, notices setting forth the policies of non-discrimination Bidders may obtain complete sets of the Bidding Documents from the issuing office designated in the Advertisement or Invitation to Bid in the number and for the deposit sum, if any, stated therein. The deposit will be refunded to Bidders who submit a bona fide Bid and return the Bidding Documents in good condition within ten days after receipt of Bids. The cost of replacement of missing or damaged documents will be deducted from the deposit. A Bidder receiving a Contract award may retain the Bidding Documents and the Bidder's deposit will be refunded.
