Renovation of a water / sewer project in Mason City, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water tank for rehabilitation.
Kentucky: Tank Information: The structure is a 500,000 gallon radial arm elevated water storage tank with a low-water level of 100 ft. located at 1019 S. Kentucky Ave. in Mason City, Iowa. The work includes: Exterior: High pressure water clean (5,000 to 10,000 psi), spot power tool clean to a SSPC-SP11 standard, and apply a three (3) coat epoxy urethane system Dry Interior: Spot power tool clean the spot failures throughout to a SSPC-SP11 standard. Apply a spot two (2) coat epoxy system to the prepared surfaces. Pit Piping: Abrasive blast clean to a SSPC-SP6 commercial standard and apply a two (2) coat epoxy system. Foundation: Repair grout. Repair spalls. Water clean and apply a two (2) coat epoxy system. Cathodic Protection: Install an impressed current cathodic protection system. Repairs: 1) Install bowl rigging couplings. 2) Install riser manway. 3) Replace the wet interior roof hatch. 4) Install deflector bars on the draw pipe. 5) Overflow discharge modification. 6) Install a fall prevention device on the wet interior riser ladder, dry interior leg ladder, and on the ladder from the step-off platform to the balcony. 7) Install a wet interior ladder from the platform to the bowl. 8) Install a roof platform. 9) Replace vent with a frost-free roof vent. 10) Weld steel plates over the cathodic covers. 11) Remove the existing cathodic protection system. 12) Install a roof handrail with a painter's railing. 13) Relocate antennas to the roof handrail. 14) Relocate the aviation beacon on the roof. 15) Install a swing gate at the balcony opening. 16) Replace the damaged light fixture. 17) Replace dry interior light bulbs. 18) Balcony drain holes. 19) Install a sample tap on the draw pipe Eisenhower: Tank Information: The structure is a 500,000 gallon spheroid elevated water storage tank with a low-water level of 112 ft. located at 391 N. Eisenhower Ave. in Mason City, Iowa. The work includes: Exterior: Abrasive blast clean to a SSPC-SP6 commercial standard within containment and apply a four (4) coat zinc epoxy urethane system. Wet Interior: Abrasive blast clean to a SSPC-SP10 near-white metal standard and apply a three (3) coat zinc epoxy system. Apply a polyurethane caulk to the roof lap seams. Dry Interior: Abrasive blast clean the entire tops of the platforms (including 1 ft. up the riser wall), the entire bowl, the entire access tube, and spot failures throughout to a SSPC-SP6 commercial standard. Apply a three (3) coat epoxy system to the access tube and bowl and a spot two (2) coat epoxy system to the rest of the prepared surfaces. Foundation: Abrasive blast clean and apply a two (2) coat epoxy system. Repairs: 1) Replace the access tube manway gasket. 2) Install a gasket on the bolted roof painter's hatch. 3) Install handholds at the roof hatches. 4) Install ladder extension at the condensate platform. 5) Replace the expansion joint. 6) Overflow discharge modification. 7) Install a condensate drain line. 8) Install a wet interior ladder. 9) Replace vent with a frost-free roof vent. 10) Install a seal at the access tube air gap. 11) Install cathodic clips and pressure fitting. 12) Install a roof painter's railing. 13) Replace dry interior light bulbs. 14) Weld a rigging lug on the bowl. 15) Replace the sample tap on the fill/draw pipe. MISCELLANEOUS A. The antenna owners will temporarily remove the antennas and cables from the Eisenhower Tank prior to the start of the project. The antennas and cables on the Kentucky Tank will remain in place during the project.
