The purpose of this Invitation for Bid (IFB) is for the Virginia Department of Energy / Abandoned Mined Land Repurposing Program to obtain sealed bids for reclamation/construction work on the Hanson Shaft Closure Project Scope of Work shall consist of mobilization of the contractor's workforce and equipment, construction site preparation, and will include, in part: tree removal, placing three layers (lifts) of riprap in the shaft depression, grouting each lift of riprap to form a solid mass, final grading of soil over the grouted riprap, and re-vegetation of disturbed areas. The purpose of this project is to construct a cyclopean concrete cover over the top of the mine shaft to permanently close it and eliminate the maintenance and safety risks. Work Location :The Hanson Shaft is located on an approximate 2-acre wooded tract of land at the northeast corner of the intersection of U.S. Route 60 (Midlothian Turnpike) and Old Buckingham Road in Midlothian, Virginia. Construction work time will be 100 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed.
