Renovation of a municipal facility in Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
This project has been set aside for Small Business. The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, tools and incidental items in accordance with the Statement of Work at Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery. Project Name: Extend Fish Building Exterior Wall, Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery Contracting Officer, Tracy Gamble at tracy_gamble@fws.gov. The Site Visit will be on February 11, 2022 @ 9:00 A.M. (EST): U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery 7030 Beard Bluff RD. Wadmalaw Island, SC 29487 To include the Disclosure of the Magnitude of Construction Project. Between $25,000 and $100,000. Period of Performance: 05/01/2022 to 07/01/2022 All questions from the site visit must be submitted in writing to: Tracy Gamble @ tracy_gamble@fws.gov and must be submitted no later than February 16, 2022 @ 3:00 A.M. (EST). The purpose of this solicitation is to extend the wall and roof at Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery. Contracting Officer: Tracy Gamble: 404-679-4055 TECH POC James Henne (843) 559-2315 Scope Summary: Extend exterior of northwest side of building outward 6-ft on ground plus 2-ft eves for a total of 8-ft. Extend roofline to match existing roofline and trusses. Install doors, siding, chain-link fencing, and shade cloth on extended section of building in same manner, finish, and appearance as original. Finished exterior wall should look and function the same as original and should extend 6-ft on ground from outside of original post to outside of new post, plus 2- ft eves. *Contractor is responsible for taking any measurements required to develop an accurate bid. All measurements in this SOW are approximate and must be verified by contractor Structural: -Remove exterior components of northwest fish building wall, including doors, siding, chain-link fencing, and shade cloth. Save doors, chain-link fencing, and shade cloth where possible for reinstallation. -Install 7 new treated one-piece 6-in x 6-in vertical posts, 3-ft concreted in ground (minimum 4,000 psi concrete) located 6-ft outside of the existing exterior NW wall in line with existing rows of interior posts. Existing post height is approximately 11.5-ft above grade. Expected height of installed posts is to match existing height. Posts to be marine grade, ground contact grade, pressure treated lumber. -Install new continuous double 2-in x 8-in treated header between posts, in line from exteriormost existing posts to new posts. -Install new continuous 2-in x 8-in treated header between new exterior posts, in line from the first new post to the last new post. -Install trusses spanning the 45-ft side of original building (left side of building in photo), 2-ft apart, following original truss construction and spacing. Install hurricane ties/straps. -For 35-ft lean-to side of building (right side in photo): Install new treated 2-in x 4-in rafters and 1-in x 4-in battens following the original construction and spacing. Re-install exterior components that were removed at project start: doors, chain-link fencing, and shade cloth when possible. Any original components that cannot be re-used will be replaced. Replace siding above double chain-link doors with new treated T1-11 siding and paint new siding to match original as close as possible. Primer plus 2 finish coats. -Install new vinyl-coated (black) steel chain-link fencing and shade cloth (80% light-blocking) on new extended 6-ft sides of building such that the building is covered by chain-link fencing and shade cloth on all sides. chain-link double doors should be covered by shade cloth. Roof: - Install new galvalume metal 26-gauge 3-ft wide rib-loc panel. Single sheet runs length of each side of ridge on original building section. Single sheet runs length of lean-to shed roof. Install new ridge and transition flashing where needed. Eves should extend 2-ft from exterior wall as original. -All stainless fasteners. -Posts fastened to header boards with stainless through bolts, washers, and nuts (4 bolts/post). Bolts should be a minimum of 3/8-in thick and, when assembled on the header board/post, there should be a minimum of 3 bolt threads visible beyond the washer and nut. -All other fasteners (screws, nails, tie straps) to be stainless steel. -Contractor will be working around fish tanks that contain live fish and is expected to take the necessary precautions to avoid dropping/spilling material into tanks. Hatchery staff will cover tanks with tarps during work hours. -Contractor is responsible for clean-up and removal of all trash/debris associated with this project. -Site visit is strongly recommended prior to submission of bid. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
