Project Category Code: Fiber Optics Description: The North Ankeny Boulevard Fiber Optic Upgrade includes furnishing and installing fiber optic conduit, handholes and equipment along North Ankeny Boulevard from 1st Street to N 18th Street in the City of Ankeny. Also included within the project is installation of City-furnished fiber optic cable. The construction improvements include installation of conduit, fiber optic cable, tracer wire, pull tape, handholes, fiber optic cable splicing and associated equipment. The project includes an estimated 7,020 LF of two 96-count fiber optic cables (City-furnished), 1,940 LF of 48-count or less fiber optic cables (City-furnished), 5,860 LF of 2" HDPE conduit and 650 splices. Other associated improvements include traffic control, mobilization and miscellaneous work necessary to complete the project. Fully complete shall be defined as all work and testing completed, and all improvements ready for final acceptance. Should the Contractor fail to fully complete the work within this timeframe, liquidated damages of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work not fully completed within the designated Contract term(s). The City of Ankeny does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
