The District of Kitimat has two ice arenas, Tamitik Ice Arena and Kitimat Ice Rink. Both have ice plant refrigeration equipment with ammonia as the cooling agent that we are looking to have maintained over the next three years at regular intervals to meet regulatory obligations and preventative maintenance requirements. The main objective of this type of service agreement is regular inspection; to allow prediction of long term operating and high maintenance costs and more accuracy on budget forecasting. This will also provide for minimising potential down time and eliminating un-budgeted high capital expenditures. It is our interest to maintain our plants in a trouble free condition. The District of Kitimat is looking for a qualified refrigeration mechanic to perform visual checks and procedures to ensure proper, safe and most efficient operation of our refrigeration equipment. Upon completion the qualified personnel will provide a report to the District on deficiencies or concerns and potential corrective actions to be reviewed on an annual basis.
