PURPOSE The Virginia Department of Transportation, herein referred to as "VDOT," is soliciting bids from qualified firms to furnish all labor, tools, materials, incidentals and equipment necessary to fabricate and install galvanized steel staircase. Staircase shall be installed in accordance with the specification herein at the Rosslyn Tunnel along 1300 Lee Hwy, Arlington, VA 22209 in Northern Virginia. Technical questions to Bryan.Bailey@vdot.virginia.gov the issuing office shall determine whether any addendum should be issued as a result of any questions or other matters raised. Provide questions no later than one (5) day prior to the closing date. SCOPE OF WORK: Contractor shall furnish all labor, tools, materials, incidentals and equipment necessary to fabricate galvanized steel staircase. All material shall be hot dip galvanized. Landing: The contractor shall fabricate and install a landing at the top of the staircase prior to entering the chain link enclosure. The chain link fence gate swings outwards therefore, the landing shall be large enough to open the gate all the way to the concrete wall without hitting the (new construction) handrail. Staircase: The steps shall be at a minimum, five (5) feet wide. The length of the run from the sidewalk to the wall is 25'-6" long. The stringers shall be made with 8-inch channel. The treads shall be made with slip free serrated bar grading with a pipe rail on one side. Handrail: The contractor shall furnish and install handrail on the right hand side as going up the stairs.
