Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Kelso, Washington. Working plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
The existing bridge deck is too heavy for the bridge. The existing bridge deck HMA will be removed and replaced with a polymer overlay to lighten the weight on the bridge. As of March 14, 2022, this project is in Final Planning status. Preliminary engineering has begun and environmental design is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2022. The contract advertisement is expected in Second quarter of 2022 and construction is anticipated to be operationally complete in the first quarter of 2023. WSDOT - I-5/SB Lewis River Bridge - Deck Overlay and Expansion Joint Replacement *Project information has been obtained through a public state transportation improvement plan (STIP). A STIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the STIP often evolves based on funding availability.
