Site work and paving for a civil project in Harbor Springs, Michigan. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians (LTBB) was awarded a USDA Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) grant for replacement of the undersized culverts on Lake Shore Drive over Wycamp Creek in Cross Village Township and Lower Shore Drive over Five Mile Creek in West Traverse Township. The current Lake Shore Drive crossing consists of a 6' diameter corrugated metal culvert. The culvert is undersized for the crossing causing severe erosion on the downstream side of the stream. Wycamp Creek turns 90 degrees less than 50' downstream from the crossing. The estimated clear span for the site (Bank Full Width) is 22' +/-. The existing road width of Lake Shore Drive is 22' in width. The expected final crossing width is expected to be 28' curb to curb to accommodate future road widening. Approaches will be paved approximately 100' either side of the bridge to transition back to the 22' width. The right-of-way is 66' wide and the road is centered in its own right-of-way. Lake Shore Drive is a county primary road. The current Lower Shore Drive over Five Mile Creek consists of a 6' diameter corrugated metal culvert. The culvert is undersized for the crossing. Five Mile Creek has a steep gradient at the crossing causing turbulent water flowing through the culvert and has caused the culvert to be perched due to erosion. The estimated clear span for the site (Bank Full Width) is 12' +/-. Lower Shore Drive is a "Natural Beauty Road" and a county local road. The width of the road needs to stay the same width due to its designation. Currently the road is approximately 20' wide. The right-of-way is 66' wide and the road is centered in its own right-of-way. For Preliminary Engineering for the Lake Shore Drive over Wycamp Creek culvert replacement / timber bridge (or alternative) installation in Cross Village Township and for the Lower Shore Drive over Five Mile Creek culvert removal and upgrade in West Traverse Township. The project construction for both structures is expected to take place in 2023. The design is expected to be completed by July 29, 2022. The Board reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to award in the best interest of the Emmet County Road Commission. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
