Renovation of a library in Douglas, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.
Estimated Cost: Over $50,000.00 Repairs to first floor ceiling, Simon Fairfield Public Library General Description of work: remove electrical fixtures, hang plastic to protect rooms and room contents, hang blue board over the current ceiling, plaster and paint ceilings, and reinstall electrical fixtures. This work must be completed in a timely manner to minimize public service impact of library closure. Dimensions: Entire first floor including (rounded up to the nearest foot): Main Foyer (37' x 24') Audiovisual Media Room (20' x 14') Main Stacks (21' x 21') Youth Room (23' x 20') Children's Room (21' x 20') Staff Office (13'x 12') Restroom (7' x 4') Tasks: o Remove 41 ceiling lights, 4 ceiling fans, 7 life safety detectors, and 1 camera from the ceiling and reinstall upon completion Apply lightweight plastic on walls, books, and shelves as applicable and cover floors to protect existing assets and dispose of material used to do so Remove failing drywall and/or plaster as needed and dispose of it Install 1/2 inch drywall board as an overlay Tape and plaster ceiling to a level 4 smooth finish Sand imperfections from new plaster as needed Prime and paint ceiling flat white (including 3 foot soffit band above trim where applicable) Broom sweep and vacuum floors and remove any dust and detritus accumulated from the project on library fixtures and collections
