TRIUMF is seeking a compact, dipstick style, dilution refrigerator unit for use in one of its muon beamlines experimental station. Among the major requirement specifications for this equipment, which are reflected in the device specifications in Part C of this document, are: 2.1.1. A cooling capacity of # 100uW @100 mK on the outside wall of the mixing chamber 2.1.2. 40 mK base temperature, or lower 2.1.3. Stable operation over 40 mK-300 K operating temperature range, including the 1-2 K region. 2.1.4. Nominal cooldown, 2 K to base temperature in less than 3 hrs. 2.1.5. Complete sample change time, using two inserts, measured via 2 K to 2 K turnaround time, in less than 4 hours (to be minimized). 2.1.6. Standalone cryogenic support system, allowing insertion of its Tail through a room-temperature 100 mm opening of roughly 1 m depth into center of a magnet. 2.1.7. Routine operation of the system should be largely automatic and not require constant supervision.
