Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Sanford, Florida. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
As of August 19, 2024, a contractor has been awarded and construction is anticipated to begin on September 9, 2024. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) plans to resurface State Road (S.R.) 46 from east of County Road (C.R.) 15 (Monroe Road/ Upsala Road) to French Avenue (U.S. 17-92). Safety improvements will be made to pedestrian and transit facilities. Curb ramps will be reconstructed to current ADA criteria and new sidewalk will be constructed to fill gaps providing a continuous route through the project limits. Some on-street parking will be eliminated to provide 7-ft buffered bicycle lanes. Existing lighting will be retrofitted to current criteria at 3 intersections: Central Park Dr/ Old England Loop, Martin Luther King Jr Blvd/ Rand Yard Rd, and Airport/ SunRail Station/ FPL Sanford Substation. Obsolete driveways are to be removed to improve pedestrian mobility.
